Carnival of Venice

I was
asked to present a mural design for the outside wall facing the
ocean with a long wooden deck. I thought it would be great to have
it as if you were looking into a building with a party going on. And
of course, being Italian it had to be a Carnival of Venice party.
The mural job fell threw but I still had this great drawing. Then
about twenty years, later two art styles collided. I was working on
the notion that art can be made out of anything, I flashed on the
mural drawing that would be the perfect destination for all
materials that I had been collecting. Art can sometimes take a long
time to happen.
The full collection consists of 12 pieces.
A unique series of mixed media painting based on the masks and
costumes of the Carnival of Venice.
Medias used are gold, silver and
copper leaf. Fabrics and appliqués made of sequins and jewels.
